Ladino, a language almost extinct...

Ladino, heritage of our ancestors, on the Sephardic-Jew side [my mom's], is a treasure nowadays, they were expulsed from the Iberic Peninsula in 1492 by the Catholic Christians, and never came back, they did love their land, but they were evicted, this language is what we have from them: let's give it a chance!

Ladino is the ancient Spanish of the Middle Ages in which the culture of the Jews of Spain developed and thrived. After their expulsion from Spain in 1492, the exiles continued to preserve the language in every place where they established a community, from Greece, Italy and Turkey, through Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and North Africa.

On a singing tour in Spain, Yasmin connects with her identity as a Jew whose ancestors were expelled 500 years earlier, and she finds her destiny.

This very Friday July 10th, Veracruz City-Port in Mexico will be 490 years old since it's foundation. In July 10th 1519 Hernan Cortes founded the First City in the Continental America, and will be with the time, the most important Port in Mexico and the gateway to Europe and the Mother-Lands: Cuba & Spain.

That was the beginning of the Nueva España [New Spain] and the history of an incredible conquest that nowadays we know, are the basics of our ancestry and heritage.

A Mexican-Jew Artist... in our hearts forever!

Here are great brilliant works by the tortured artist Frida Kahlo, 1907-1954, who claimed to be Jewish, even though some people say her father was Lutheran. Kahlo was badly injured by a Mexican streetcar when she was 18, and it left her in severe pain and influenced her art for the rest of her life. She also had a long-lasting and troubled romance with the Mexican artist Diego Rivera, including two marriage ceremonies. She once said there were two great tragedies in her life. One when she was hit by a streetcar, and the other when she met Diego Rivera.
